Greetings, East Elementary families! We are excited to welcome our Pirates back to East Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year. We will maintain a high level of attention to detail with daily arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure maximum safety for our Pirates and increased efficiency for our parents.
Student Arrival Procedures:
The East Elementary campus will open to students at 7:15 AM each morning.
If your child will ride a Lubbock-Cooper ISD bus to/from school during the 2021-22 school year, you must complete the Transportation Request Form found here. While the Google Form indicates otherwise, all students who will ride the bus must complete the form, not only those who are new bus riders. Additionally, LCISD will be implementing a new ridership program for all bus riders this year and will be providing more information about this new system for families utilizing district transportation.
Parents wishing to drop their children off in the morning may do so on the north or south sides of the building, as was done during the 2020-2021 school year. Please refer to the included campus map to assist in locating and accessing these designated areas. East Elementary employees will continue to assist in unloading students at these designated stations. For the safety of your children, please do not allow them to exit the vehicle until you are stopped at a designated area. Students should not exit vehicles in the parking lot; please use the designated drop-off lanes.
Students wanting to eat breakfast will do so in our cafeteria. Upon completion of breakfast, students will move to their designated waiting areas. Parents may sit with their children in the cafeteria as they eat breakfast if desired. Students who arrive after the 7:45 bell or are tardy will have the opportunity to receive an on-the-go breakfast from a breakfast cart stationed in the Discovery Center.
Children who are dropped off before 7:45 will be asked to wait in designated locations by grade level to ensure adequate supervision and safety. Locations for each grade level are provided for your reference, below:
Pre-Kindergarten & Early Childhood Special Education - PK Neighborhood Kindergarten - Discovery Center
1st & 2nd Grade - Gymnasium 3rd Grade - Hallway outside
3rd grade neighborhood
4th Grade - Library
5th Grade - Hallway outside 5th grade neighborhood
All students will be supervised by East Elementary employees as they wait in the morning and will be escorted to their classrooms at 7:45.
This year, we are excited to share that parents may walk students inside the building and wait in the front corridor or the front area of the Discovery Center until 7:45 when the first bell rings. Parents will then be allowed to walk students into their grade level neighborhood. When the tardy bell rings, parents must exit the building so that daily announcements and instruction can begin promptly at 7:55 AM.
The tardy bell will ring at 7:55 AM each morning. Students inside the building at 7:55 AM will not be counted tardy.
Student Dismissal Procedures:
To maintain student safety and an all-hands-on-deck approach during this critical time of day, all LCISD elementary campuses will remain closed during daily dismissal procedures for the 2021-2022 school year.
Each afternoon, a bell ringing at 3:20 PM will signal the release of our East Elementary Pirates. Siblings will meet up in their designated dismissal locations to be released together, with older students moving to their younger siblings.
Bus students are loaded directly onto their school bus at 3:20 PM, with buses departing from the campus no later than 3:25 PM each day.
Students who attend daycare in the afternoon are loaded onto their provider’s vehicle at 3:20 PM or as soon as the vehicle arrives on campus. YW-Care is provided on-site at East Elementary each day. For more information about YW-Care, please contact YWCA of Lubbock at 806-776-9100 or by emailing email@example.com.
East Elementary will utilize the CarRiderPro system to make the afternoon pick-up system safer and more efficient. CarRiderPro uses hang tags, which will be provided for your use. During student pick-up, the tag should be in full view with the numbers facing the windshield so that our school staff members can see them and the scanners can appropriately read the barcode. Tags will be issued for your family at Open House on Monday, August 16. If you still have your tag from last year, please bring it with you so that we can verify that it is still synched with our system and will work appropriately this school year.
Students with last names beginning with A-L will be picked up on the north side of the school in the drive-up lane off of 134th Street. Students with last names beginning with M-Z will be picked up on the south side of the school in the drive-up lane between 137th Street and the building. If siblings have different last names, they will wait in the designated area according to the youngest child’s last name. East Elementary employees will assist in loading students at designated stations.
● Student drop-off will continue to occur on the north and south sides of the building beginning at 7:15 AM each morning.
● This year, parents are welcome to walk students into the building during arrival at 7:45 AM each day but will be asked to exit the building when the 7:55 tardy bell rings.
● Students dropped off before 7:45 will wait in designated areas by grade level each morning and will be escorted to their ,classrooms at the appropriate time.
● Parents must remain in their vehicles during dismissal for the 2021-2022 school year.
